Does This Leaked Shot Reveal iOS 7's Flat Design?

For those of you who are looking forward to the release of iOS 7, next Monday's kickoff to the 2013 WWDC should satisfy your craving for information about what's on tap for the future of iOS.

One of the most persistent rumors ahead of WWDC 2013 is that we will soon behold the iOS revamp envisioned by Jonathan Ive, who is overseeing the design of iOS 7 and its reportedly "flatter" appearance that eliminates skeuomorphism.

So... does the image above provide a sneak peek at iOS 7 and the aforementioned design overhaul? According to a new shot presented on the iDownloadBlog, you're looking at the new home screen in iOS 7.

What does that mean for parts of the UI such as app icons? Our friend Sonny Dickson got his hands on a blurry screenshot showing the Home screen of an iPhone running iOS 7. The image quality is terrible, but with the help of talented designer Surenix, we were able to reproduce some of these icons to give you an exclusive look at what some stock app icons on iOS 7 might look like.

"The first thing that caught my eyes when looking at these icons is that the gloss effect is now gone," writes Sebastien Page. "Apple first introduced this effect when iPhone OS first came out six years ago. Through its SDK, Apple currently allows developers to either easily add a gloss effect on an icon, or not."

Although it seems pointless to speculate about what iOS 7 will deliver being this close to actually getting the answers we're all searching for, you can bet the next week will be a blogophere barn-burner of rumors and speculation.
